SPRING CHALLENGE

Week Five: UPSIDE DOWN

Week Four of 2024 Spring Challenge

we challenge you to try a pilates class! if you can’t make wednesday midday there will be more class options coming soon.

Is there anywhere in your body that feels pain, recurring injury, weak, disconnected or offline?

its true that with most things we will find the path of least resistance which for our movement practice means always relying on our stronger muscles and less reliant on the weaker ones that we actually need to strengthen. Yoga is a hollistic practice if we can bring our whole body online with our awareness.

functional movements for core and working to inversions we practiced yesterday:

– block over head lying down with awareness on core diamond

– wrist circles

– chaturunga push up on knees, full chaturunga push up

– alt arm and leg lifts

– hip lifts on back bodies

Below is a 60 minute class focused on crow and core “Practice feeling safe” – in this class I also talk about the chakras and the energetics of shifting upside down (hips above heart) – give it a go!

Then there is a 45 min class called “practice with me” this is the daily movement I do including functional core work (10 mins) – this is a guide as it includes a lot of inversions so use this 45 min practice to integrate your own movement and work towards creating a daily practice that supports your body – key to this is strengthening what feels weak, opening what feels tight.

Practice Feeling Safe- An at home practice from Isabella (60 mins vinyasa)

Top tip for creating a home practice – set up a space, doesn’t have to be big but if you can leave your mat out in it, this can help as a reminder and one less thing to do. Light your favourite candle or some incense since its your space, you choose the lighting, the smells and the space. Wooden or hard floor is preferably but carpet will work too. Choose your favourite playlist or access one of mine on spotify @isabellafrancesyoga – the playlists are named to each class “practice svadyaya”
