SPRING CHALLENGE
Week One: Presence
Week one of 2024 Spring Challenge
If we ran seamlessly with nature, then spring would be the start of the year. A time of new beginnings, rebirth and growth. We must begin by being present so we can direct this new energy towards those things we want to cultivate and away from those things we do not want to give energy to anymore. Below are a few journalling prompts if you wish to do them, I always find journalling alongside my practice really helpful. The extra challenge this week – make it to at least one restorative or yin class, these can be a really helpful tool in getting very present with ourself and our thoughts.
– What do you want to let go of coming out of the previous cycle? Maybe its worrying, anger, arguing, stress, over committing, it could be many things and this list is only for you.
– What do you want to cultivate, manifest, evolve into in this next cycle? No answer is “too much” or “not enough” what ever feels right for you
– We want this challenge to be something that will continue beyond the six weeks of Tuesday meet ups – for you to find the balance that feels right for you as we deeply believe in the transformative magic of Yoga and that the magic of these practices lies in the consistency. So try not to over commit when planning your weekly schedule with the thought of “only for the next six weeks”. It might look like 2x studio vinyasa/hatha, 3x moving on my mat at home, 1x studio restorative/yin practice, 1x day off or any iteration of this.
Practice Svadyaya – An at home practice from Isabella (60 mins vinyasa)
Top tip for creating a home practice – set up a space, doesn’t have to be big but if you can leave your mat out in it, this can help as a reminder and one less thing to do. Light your favourite candle or some incense since its your space, you choose the lighting, the smells and the space. Wooden or hard floor is preferably but carpet will work too. Choose your favourite playlist or access one of mine on spotify @isabellafrancesyoga – the playlists are named to each class “practice svadyaya”
Below is some recommended further reading it includes the books of the last two challenges, but we all have different interests and Yoga is so vast, therefore here are some different books that might take your interest and if your interests lie in another area of practice or more traditional texts let us know and we can help you find something that suits.
